January's Tank of the Month at ReefCentral

is from Fernando D'Amora's,

Italian reef tank.

This is a well-known aquarium here at

H2O + Something.

The first time I saw this aquarium was back in 2006. One of the most impressive things among this marvellous master piece was his corals growth, it were enormous.

After I found this aquarium I started to visit Reef Italia Forum, and it was really impressive to me how Italian guys had such wonderful reefs.

Then I discovered that many reefers there use Blu Coral Method, this a method which combines high levels of Ca, Kh e Mg with Pappone and Human growth hormone.

For those unfamiliar with these terms, Pappone is a mixture of seafoods that are blended into a fine mush, stored at the freezer, and fed at night to feed the corals.

It was quite surprising to find out that Fernando don't use this method. I always thought that the coral growth achievement was due to Blu Coral Method.

The lighting system is also something worth of note. He designed an wonderful  self-made lightning system, combining the best of the two worlds, T5 and HQI. It has a solid, clean and functional design, as you can see below.

This is one of my favourite aquarium of all times.

It has amazing colours and growth, it has been very stable over the years, revealing Nando as one major reeference.
